of early
Barbour Co, AL, Georgia & Louisiana
There obviously
were at least 3-4 separate Bryan families in
Montgomery/Dallas/Lowndes Co, AL in the early 1800's - early
40's, My Henry Bryan's family (formerly of Georgia) being one - Rev Richard Bryan's widow & children (formerly of SC)
being another. Then there were David Bryan, Edward
Bryan (formerly of NC), Nathan Bryan, Redding Bryan (of GA), Samuel Bryan, Stephen
Bryan and Wade Bryan
(formerly of SC) all either owning land or appearing on the
1830-1840 census that do not have a direct lineage that I can
find to my Henry nor Rev Richard Bryan.
Some of Henry's descendants moved to Arkansas,
Louisiana & Texas (my Allen moved to Texas).
Some moved from Lowndes & Russell Co, AL to Georgia, where
they died early.
If you know how
they fit into a family, please email me at bryan@bryansite.com

Needham that
married Mary Ann (A.M.) HARRIS 23 Dec 1819 in Jefferson Co, GA
were 1st cousins.
There was also a Needham that married Mary Anna GREEN who was in
Buck Co, NC 1820. Children reportedly Wm, Needham, Sabra Ann
& Elizabeth?
The above graves are the only
ones found in the Old Bryan Cemetery, so it is more likely than
not, that the mothers of Thomas & N.B. Laramore (Mary &
H.M.) were BRYAN women that married LARAMORE men (John L &
P.W.). Also, N.B. Laramore (1819-1850) was probably named
Needham.

A Lucius Bryan appears
listed on the 1850 Macon Co, AL Slave Census as slave owner of 14
slaves. Also listed was his brother Charles Bryan listed as slave-owner of 13. He
was killed in 1860. NOTE: Needham's
son, Lucius, was listed on the Russell Co, AL
1850 census. Macon Co, AL borders Russell County. Since I have
found NO OTHER Lucius in that area during that
time frame, I am curious as to who this Lucius
was.
