Ambrose Monroe Bivens (Coleman)
1872-1940
son of Warner BIVENS 1838
| Warner Isaiah BIVENS wife, Martha HENNIGAN's 1st husband, James Daniel COLEMAN, did not return from the Civil War. At the time of her marriage to Warner BIVENS, many in the community believed that her 1st husband was still alive, so they would not accept the marriage. Warner and Martha were married 12 Dec 1870, and records show that James D COLEMAN died at Vicksburg 11 Jun 1862. Due to Martha's early death Ambrose M BIVENS was raised by the COLEMAN family as Ambrose M COLEMAN. Thus all of his children had the surname COLEMAN instead of BIVENS. |
