is the mother of Robert E KYLE, husband to Thomas'
daughter Elizabeth G in Tippah Co, MS 1835.

Census records
show Elizabeth's birthplace as three
different states, PA, IN & TN.
On the 1880
Panola Co, TX census Elizabeth,
age 62, stated she & her father were
born in Indiana & her mother was born
in Kentucky. Not only did her place of
birth differ from census to census, but
her age did as well, while Robert
KYLE's stayed consistent.

Her
family had migrated from PA to SC then to
TN, however, some of the Martindale Clan
shifted back from SC to Indiana &
Ohio. Her parents were married in Union
Co, SC & that is where most of their
children were born. They later migrated
to McNairy Co, TN where, Alley
KYLE, mother of Robert E
KYLE, was listed on the 1830
census. Five years
later Elizabeth & Robert
marry in Tippah Co, MS. Elizabeth's
parents stayed in TN so it is unclear how
she came to end up where Robert
was in MS.
Elizabeth's
younger brother Solon
born in 1821 stated he was born in
Indiana & her brother Wm born in 1824
stated he was born in Ohio. It is
possible that the family was traveling to
relatives during the births of Elizabeth,
Solon & Wm.

Oliver P MARTINDALE,
son of Wm, served in the Confederacy - pension
#21923. His wife filed for a widow's pension
#50401. Oliver signed an "Affidavit of
Witness" on behalf of his 1st cousin, Nancy
KYLE BRYAN's brother-in-law, Allen
Bonnell BRYAN, for his "Soldier's Pension
Application". Nancy was the wife of John
Henry BRYAN, and the daughter of Elizabeth
MARTINDALE & Robert E KYLE.
Also,
filing for a "Widow Pension" was Mrs.
M.J. Martindale, widow of John.
This was filed in Jasper Co, TX, #07877. I do not
know who this John Martindale was, but he was of
some relation to my Thomas.

Hon.
W. MAYER
Alta Loma, Texas
P.O. Box --
Dear
Mr. Mayer,
After
so long a time I take pleasure in sending you
what information on that I have regarding our
brand of the KYLE family. I
regret it very much, but Mr. E.S. KYLE
has been misinformed. I have no records, Bible,
or otherwise of our family back 1700. Date-1805
is as far as I have any record.
Robert Edmondson KYLE - Father's Father - (My
Grandfather) was born March 17, 1805. We think
somewhere in Tennessee or N.C. (no record) from
Tennessee. He must have moved to Mississippi for
he married one Elizabeth G. MARTINDALE
on Dec 20, 1833 (note: my records show 1835). The
MARTINDALE's did move Miss to Texas about the
time that my grandfather moved here.
Now
on my grandmother's side, Elizabeth G MARTINDALE
KYLE,
she appears to have had 4 brothers:
Bill
MARTINDALE who settled near here
Henry of
Indiana
Solon
(NOTE: actually was his brother, Mose)
who married an Indian squaw and settled
on a league and a half of land in the
heart of what is now Fort Worth, Texas
The Martindale's
here didn't want me to tell anything
about Mose - because he
married a squaw- People are curious!
