The GORE missing link
- My great-grandmother, Sarah Jane GORE,
daughter of Wm GORE & 2nd
wife of B. Frank BIVENS, found
in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, was 1/2 Cherokee
Indian. Many researchers have Sarah's
mother as Ellen HENNIGAN, who
was reportedly born 1818 Meckleburg, NC ~ died
aft 1863 LA, daughter of Michael HENNIGAN
& Amy BRUMMELOW. Perhaps Wm
did marry that Ellen, however, Ellender
that was Sarah Jane's mother was
full-blood Cherokee Indian,
which would NOT be Ellen
HENNIGAN, The information that Sarah's
mother was a Cherokee Indian came from Sarah,
herself, and my grandmother (Sarah's daughter).
It was common knowledge in my family. Since Wm
is found with wife, Ellender as
early as 1848, then he either married a 2nd woman
named Ellen, or Ellender
was NOT a HENNIGAN.
FACT:
Sarah Jane's
mother was full-blood Cherokee
Indian, which, of course, made
her 1/2.
Sarah Jane
drew some sort of "Cherokee by
blood" pension. Though I have yet to
find the records. This was stated by my
grandmother (daughter of Sarah Jane), my
father & my aunts (grandcildren of
Sarah Jane) that knew Sarah Jane.
My Grandmother, Lula
BIVENS, daughter of Sarah
Jane, was 1/4 Cherokee & was
in the process of filing for
"Cherokee by blood" from the
U.S. Government when she died in the
early 1950's.
Ellender HENNIGAN
was of German ancestry - thus she could
not possibly be the full-blood Native
American mother of Sarah Jane.

Sarah
GORE BIVENS' son, Jess, was
a photographer by trade. A Biven's cousin
recently found me and sent me some photos of some
of the Bivens family. I am sure there are more
pictures out there that other Biven's
relatives have. I would like to be contacted by
them also. I would also like to be contacted by
any Gore relatives.

Wm
GORE, possibly had a sister named Mary
Ann GORE abt 1819 AL that married Samuel
HENNIGAN 1818 Mecklenberg, NC, son of Michael
HENNIGAN & Amy BRUMBELOW.
Ellen HENNIGAN, who some have as
the last wife of Wm GORE was the
sister to Samuel.
