I, Mrs. Julia W. DeSTEIGUER, do hereby make application for a pension pursuant to the provisions of Articles 6204 to 6227, inclusive of the Revised Civil Statutes of 1925 as amended by S.B. No 27, passed by the Forty-first Legislature at its Fifth Called Session and all other laws of this State relating thereto.

I am a widow of Edward DeSTEIGUER deceased who parted this life on the 8th day of December, A. D. 1893, in the county of Hays, in the State of Texas. I have not remarried since the death of my said husband; (or in case of remarriage that I am now a widow); and I do solemnly swear that I was never divorced from my said husband Edward DeSTEIGUER and that I never voluntarily abandoned him during his life but remained his true, faithful and lawful wife up to the date of his death. I was married to him on the 29th day of July A. D. 1868, in the county of Panola, in the State of Texas.

My husband, the said Edward DeSTEIGUER, served as a Confederate soldier (or sailor) in the war between the States of the United States; or (that he was a soldier who, under special laws of the State of Texas during said war, served in organizations for the protection of the frontier against Indian raiders or Mexican marauders); or (that he was a soldier of the militia of the State of Texas who was in active service during said war.) That my husband served honorably from the date of his enlistment until the close of the war, (or until he was discharged or paroled in some military organization regularly mustered into the army or navy of the Confederate States until surrender). He was honorably discharged or paroled Shreveport, Louisiana June 17th 1865. That I have been a bona fide resident of this State continuously since the Fall day of ...A. D. 1854.

King and Mrs. Jessie Barbee, who are personally known to me to be creditable citizens, who, being by me duly sworn, on oath state that they personally know the above named applicant for pension, and that they personally know the said Mrs. J. W. DeSTEIGUER has been a bona fide resident citizen of the State of Texas since the year 1900 and that they have no interest in this claim.

The records show that Edward DeSTIGNER, also borne as Edward DeSTEIGNER, not found as Edward DeSTEIGUER or as Edward De STIGER, private, Company G, 11 Missouri Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted August 18, 1862, at Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the period of 3 years or the war. Company muster for August 31 to December 31, 1862, shows that he was promoted to a regimental steward. Field and Staff Muster Roll for March and April 1863, shows that he was assigned to duty September 16, 1862, by Col. HUNTER, per S.O. He was paroled at Shreveport, Louisiana, June 7, 1865, with the rank of Assistant Surgeon.

APPLICATION FOR MORTUARY WARRANT
THE STATE OF TEXAS §
County of Comal §

I, L.O. TABLER, do hereby certify that I am the person to whom is entrusted the paying of the accounts and indebtedness of the late Mrs. Julia W. DeSTEIGNER, who was a pensioner of the State of Texas, and whose file number was 47539 and whose original county was Hays.

The said pensioner Mrs. Julia W. DeSTEIGNER, died on the 5 day of June, 1941, in the town of New Braunfels County of Comal, Texas.

The pensioner died in the home of Mrs. V. T. (Versula) FERGUSON who was related to the pensioner as Daughter.

That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the funeral expenses incurred by the said pensioner Mrs. Julia W. DeSTEIGNER.

I further certify that the warrant for the current month has not been cashed by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

I am related to the pensioner as Friend & Undertaker that my postoffice address is 527 West San Antonio St. San Marcos Texas, San Marcos Texas.

DeSTEIGNER, who died in the town of New Braunfels, County of Comal, State of Texas on the 5 day of June 1941. That said body was prepared for burial by me on the 5 day of June 1941, and that I am of the opinion that warrant herein applied for should be issued to the said L. O. TABLER who makes the foregoing application.
